Evelyn Helton Young entered eternal life to receive her just reward on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Lafayette General Medical Center at the age 71. She was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA . Beloved wife of the late Leonard "Bird" N. Young, Sr. Devoted mother of Leonard (Elisha) Young, Jr. and Steven (LaToya) Young. Grandmother of Jasmine, Sean, Nia, Aaliyah, and LaShara. Great grandmother of Wyatt, Alana, and Alyssa. Daughter of the late George Helton and Ruth Brown Helton. Sister of Loretta H. Johnson, Louis (Sharan) Helton, Steve Helton, Lionel Helton, Annette Hagan, Darlene H. (David, Sr.) Torry, Melody Baptiste, and the late Joseph Helton, and Phillip Helton. Sister in law of Bertrand Young and the late Arthur Hagan, Sr. Devoted cousin of Patricia Gaines, Jania P. Martin and Elverina H. (Jeffery, Sr.) Clark. Friend of Lana Divens, Janice Brown , and June Williams. Godmother of Roland (Valencia) Duncan, Jr., Ray J. (Lannya) Baptiste, and Fredrika Page. Goddaughter of the late Alma B. Chase, also survived by host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
