Everett McGee Obituary

Mr. Everett James McGee Sr., age 86, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on September 6, 2021 at Ochsner Medical center, New Orleans, LA, surrounded by his loved ones. He is a native of Plaquemine, LA and resident of Kenner, LA. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, then enlisted into the United States Air Force, where he served his country for 24 years. He retired as a Tech Sargent. He was employed by the federal government for a total of 50 years, 35 of which he worked as an engineer at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in New Orleans, LA, where he retired in 2006. He was born on September 6, 1935 to the late Ruby and Clarence McGee Sr. Everett was the beloved husband of the late Carrie McGee. Loving and devoted father of Glenda McGee, Sharon (Devin) Mosby, Everett (Christina) McGee Sr., and Edwin McGee Sr.; Proud grandfather of Christopher, Nahume, Nicole (Christian), Kiakala, Eriniessia, Edwin Jr, Elijah, Eion and Emani; Adoring great grandfather of Creuz, Creux and Kh'Lyani. He also leaves to cherish his wonderful memories to his sister Debra Tillman, sister-in-law Audrey Tolliver and brother-in-law Lionel Tolliver. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his stepmother Leona McGee, aunt Selena Smith, sister Connie Kennedy, brothers, Clarence McGee Jr and Ivan Wilson, and nephew Kenny McGee. Everett was a pillar to his community and will be fondly remembered. He taught his family the true meaning of unconditional love, loyalty, and respect. Everett's family was his pride and joy and greatest accomplishment. He was truly one of a kind and will be forever loved and deeply missed by those he left behind. The world has lost a truly exceptional man. Relatives and friends of the family, also employees of Jefferson Parish School Board, Mudbugs Concrete, Praxair, Airgas, SMC, Tulane Downtown and Tulane Lakeside hospitals, VA and Ochsner Medical Centers are all invited to attend his celebration of life at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 1908 Short St., Kenner, LA 70062 at 11:00am on Friday, September 17, 2021. Visitation will begin at 9:00am. Burial to follow in Providence Memorial Park Cemetery, 8200 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA. 70003. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, seating is limited. Face mask required at all times for everyone in attendance. Arrangements entrusted to Majestic Mortuary Services (504) 523-5872.
