Gail Giacobbe Obituary

(Mary) Gail LeBlanc Giacobbe passed away peacefully on her 77th birthday, September 11, 2023, surrounded by her three children, Kelly Giacobbe Gros (Jimmy), Corinne Giacobbe Hufft (Clay), and Lawrence Giacobbe. Gail is also survived by her two beautiful granddaughters, Ella Hufft and Gracelyn Gros. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, The Honorable George Giacobbe, her parents, Cora and Stanley LeBlanc, her brother, Stanley LeBlanc, Jr., and her sister, Dornice Clark. Gail grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, and attended St. Joseph Academy. She and George made their home initially in New Orleans and later moved to Kenner, Louisiana, where they raised their family. Gail loved to entertain, and she was a nurturer through and through. Although she only had 3 biological children, she was a "second mother" to countless children in her life. Gail was an incredible cook, and she was famous for her homemade chocolate confections. Her peanut butter cups and caramel eggs were legendary. Gail truly lit up every room she was in – both with her bright personality and her beautiful, warm smile. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and at home. She loved to make ceramics, line dance, and spend time visiting with family and friends. She was a longtime member of the Krewe of Rhea, and she loved to socialize with her Tee Cups at Chateau Estates Golf and Country Club. Gail adored animals, and she was known to feed every stray cat in the neighborhood (and even the occasional opossum). She was blessed with flawless skin and an infectious laugh. She had a magnetic smile and a big, loving heart. To be loved by Gail was a gift. In any role she had in life, be it daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother or friend, Gail's relationships were cemented by an unselfish and unwavering love. Gail's Catholic faith was of the utmost importance to her. She regularly attended Mass and was a devout prayer warrior for all those in her life, whether they were family, friends, or acquaintances. Gail truly lived the tenets of Christianity and was a steadfast friend to all, giving unselfishly of herself for others. Gail was a true and faithful servant who genuinely embodied what it means to be a good Christian. This world was a better place because Gail was in it. She leaves behind scores of admirers and a legacy of love for all those who had the good fortune to know her. Gail's family would like to thank the staff at Dreyfous House, who loved her like family and took excellent care of her in her final years. We are truly grateful for their compassion, kindness, and love. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at St. Clement of Rome Church on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 9:30 am. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11 am. Gail loved bright colors and had a closet full of happy, vibrant prints. We ask that you wear something bright and cheery to celebrate her life with us. We had many good times on some of our trips to Fort Walton we definitely laughed a lot. We also had good times playing golf and Gail would make her elixir which made us play a lot better. I love and will miss you a lot.

Gail was a beautiful person--inside and out. She was also the best joke teller! She will be missed.

Gail was one of the most beautiful women I ever met, inside and out. She was a blessing to all who knew her and George was truly a lucky man to have to honor of being her husband!
