Gary Caruso Obituary

Gary Anthony Caruso, a beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Son, and Friend, entered heaven on the late evening of March 1, 2024, at the age of 75. Gary, of Metairie, Louisiana, was born to John and Emelda Caruso on March 6,1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He leaves a son, Michael, a daughter-in-law, Alicia, and three grandchildren, Alexander, Camille, and Olivia Caruso. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Emelda Caruso, and his wife, Veronica Caruso. He attended and graduated from Holy Cross High School and received a bachelor's degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and a Master's degree from Southern University of New Orleans. He worked on the water for many years on tugboats up and down the Mississippi River, the Gulf of Mexico, and trans-Atlantic shipping. He later worked in pest control in the greater New Orleans area, eventually owning and operating his own successful pest control company, eventually transferring careers into a teacher there. He was kind, selfless, and always willing to do anything for his friends and family. His love of motorcycles, the water, and helping others was exceeded by his love for his family and friends.

It saddens me to hear of Gary's passing. I will always cherish the friendship we shared. He stood in my wedding to Marie Jeanne on March 28, 1980. I have attached a picture of Gary walking my mother up the aisle. Condolences to those he leaves behind especially his son.
