Gay Saladino Obituary

Gay Ann Gonzales Saladino, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on August 11, 2024, at the age of 67 years. She was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, born on April 2, 1957. Gay was the cherished daughter of Ronnie and Fay Gonzales, who instilled in her the values of family and compassion that she carried throughout her life. She found her soulmate in Marc Saladino, and their marriage of nearly 45 years was a beautiful example of enduring partnership and mutual respect. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Ronnie Saladino (Melanie) and Amanda Gemar (Troy), who in turn blessed Gay with the joy of being a grandmother to Emma, Robert, and Julia Saladino and Hattie Gemar. Her siblings, Eddie Gonzales (Suzy), Rhonda Voiselle (Kevin), Randy Gonzales (Arleen), and Ronell Cefalu (Jack), will remember Gay as the heart of their family, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. Her presence was a source of comfort and happiness to all who knew her. Gay's professional life as a paraprofessional was marked by her dedication to the well-being and education of the children she worked with until retirement. Her colleagues will remember her as a friendly face in the hallways, always eager to support and encourage both students and staff. Above all, Gay's greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was a quiet afternoon reading books or an exciting day out exploring. Her love for her grandchildren was boundless, and the memories they created together will be treasured forever. Gay will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A Funeral Mass will begin in the chapel at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Gay's family encourages anyone able to donate blood. Memories and condolences may be expressed at www.AudubonFuneralHome.com.
