George M. Coffelt

George M. Coffelt, age 84, of Tallahassee, passed away on June 4, 2015, at his residence.

George was born in Port Angeles, WA, to the late William and Ava Rose Coffelt. George became a lumberjack at a very young age and then was drafted into the U.S. Air Force. He proudly served his country from 1951-1959 and was in the Korean Conflict. George moved to Tampa in 1960 where he worked for Florida Nitrogen for 10 years. In 1969, he and the love of his life moved to Tallahassee, where he worked for Standard Oil Company, Borden's Dairy and then was maintenance supervisor at SAIL for 10 years until retirement.

George is survived by his best friend, companion and loving wife of 53 years, Jerry Coffelt of Tallahassee; son, Mike Coffelt of Tallahassee; sisters-in-law, Mary Johnson, Maggie Shaw (Ben), Betty Winkler and Janie Ingram all of Tallahassee; brother-in-law, Lloyd Tatum (Sue) of Tallahassee; niece, Myrtle Pensworth of Port Angeles, WA and great-nephew, Buck Hultenschmidt of Arizona.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, June 8, 2015, at Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm on Sunday at Bevis Funeral Home in Tallahassee.
