George Gandy Sr.

George Gandy, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the age of 85. He was a native of Richton, MS and a resident of Marrero, LA. George served his country as a member of the United States Army and received the Meritorious Performance Award. He was a retired Crane Operator/Sandblast Technician of the U. S. Coast Guard Dept. of Transportation Division. Beloved husband of the late Thelma S. Gandy. Loving father of Yvonne Gandy, Denise Gandy, Sharon G. Price, George Gandy, Jr., and Malcolm Gandy, Sr. Stepfather of the late James E. Clark. Grandfather of the late Juanita Gandy. Son of the late Will and Geneva Gandy. Brother of Lillian Carr and the late Mary Lou Harvey, Azalea Williams, Mattie Kirkland, Catherine Reed, Dorothy Hinton, Andre, Austin, and Allen Gandy. Son-in-law of the late Roy and Katie Stampley. Brother-in-law of the late Albert, Henry, Jimmie, Gene, and Mary Stampley, Ida Mae Stringer and Catherine Green. George is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Second Highway Baptist Church, Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; employees of U.S. Coast Guard Dept. of Transportation Division, Jefferson Parish D. A. Office, Jefferson Parish Sewerage Dept., Louisiana Healthcare Connection, and Centene Corp. are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Second Highway Baptist Church, 1533 Haydel Dr. Marrero, LA on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Joseph Johnson, officiating.
