George Hardouin Obituary

HARDOUIN George J. Hardouin, Jr., born October 31, 1936, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 after 74 years of well-lived life. Beloved husband of Mary Aline Touchet for 54 years. A native of New Orleans, LA and a former resident of Slidell, LA for 20 years until relocating to Broomfield, CO after Hurricane Katrina. Graduate of John McDonough High 1956, retired at age 50, after 30 years with National Linen Service, working his way up from Routeman to Service Manager. Of his many hobbies he enjoyed handicapping race horses at N.O. Fairgrounds, speckle trout fishing in Delacroix and volunteering his time to Habitate for Humanity building homes for the less fortunate. He provided a wonderful life for his wife and children in a modest home and instilled upon us great values, loyalty, hard work and dedication to those we know and love and will be sadly missed by all who had known him. His family legacy will live on in our hearts forever through many generations to come. He is survived by his children: Jerry (Lyn Stagg) Hardouin, Larry (Jean Johnson) Hardouin, and Cindy H. (Duane) Hamber-ger; 5 grandchildren: Brian (Kim Duensing) Hardouin, Scott Hardouin, Eric and Jodi Hamberger, and Annalise Hardouin; and a brother, Alfred Hardouin. He was born and preceded in death by George J. Hardouin, Sr. and Bernice Pattison Hardouin, and his youngest brother, Dennis J. Hardouin. His wishes were to be cremated in Broomfield, CO and his ashes laid to rest in May 2011 at St. Roch Cemetery, N.O., LA. The family kindly requests donations to East St. Tammany Habitat for Humanity, Aldersgate Methodist Church, Epworth Project, 360 Robert Blvd., Slidell, LA 70458.

George was one of the most influential men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I worked with George for almost 20 years at National Linen Service both as a Routeman and as his backup at Service Manager learning everything I could from him. He will forever have an impact on my life and will never forget him! RIP my friend and I'm sure we will meet again someday!!

Mary, Cindy, Jerry, Larry, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of one of my most influential friends in the world. George and I worked at National Linen for many years and when I moved to Slidell after Katrina, George was the first person I looked up, not knowing he had moved to Colorado. I will always remember the good and bad times we had the work and will never forget him.

God Bless you all,
Mike Frught
