George Kadair Obituary

Mr. Kadair was born of Lebanese decent on December 22nd 1920, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was a resident of Baton Rouge since early childhood and departed from this world at 3:33 PM on February 28th 2003. He was 82 years old. George Kadair was a graduate of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge where he excelled in both academic and athletic pursuits. In later years, he was inducted into the CHS Hall of Fame. Through his early achievements at Catholic High, George Kadair earned the prestigious Joseph A. Breaux scholarship to Loyola University in New Orleans. He was also recognized, at that time, as being one of the few members in the National Catholic Honor Society, Delta Epsilon Sigma. George Kadair graduated magna cum laude from Loyola in 1942. Mr. Kadair was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. While serving his country he married the former Lucy Mae LeBlanc of Algiers, Louisiana. They have been lovingly devoted in marriage for 60 years. Through faith, love and sacrifice they reared eight children. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 2nd from 5PM to 9PM at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street in Baton Rouge and on Monday, March 3rd from 9AM to 10AM at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Avenue, in Baton Rouge. The memorial service and Mass for Mr. Kadair will begin at 10AM at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Final resting, at Roselawn Memorial, 4045 North Street in Baton Rouge. Mr. Kadair's six sons will serve as pallbearers and his two daughters will participate as attendants. Mr. Kadair is preceded in death by his father, Shaben George Kadair, his mother Josephine Abraham Kadair Rampley, and his brother Edward Joseph Kadair. He is survived by his wife Lucy LeBlanc Kadair, His brother S.M. Kadair, his uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs. Anthony J. Abraham and his eight children.

John, it was nice seeing you the other day. I'm sorry to just be learning of the death of your father. You're very lucky to have had the time with him you did. I wish I would have had the opportunity to meet him. I'll keep you in my prayers. Chris G
