My sincere condolences to the Rainey family on the loss of your father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle. George was a very special friend and influence in my life for nearly 40 years and we remained close to the day he went on to be with the master. He assisted me in many endeavors with catering activities with the National Association of Black Accountants, the Housing Authority of New New Orleans, Southern University, Prince Masonic functions, Prince Hall Shrine functions, family functions and without question all my activities as a member of the Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club, Inc. I would not have been elected King Zulu 1994 or President of Zulu without his assistance, guidance and support! It was my distinct pleasure to select him as the Honorary Grand Marshal in Zulu during my first year as President and to work tirelessly behind the scenes to assist in his election as King Zulu. Both honors he truly deserved! I’m my estimation there has been no one who has done more for Zulu than King George V. Rainey. I will miss him! The City of New Orleans will miss him! Zulu will miss him! And without a doubt I know his dear family will miss him also! I would like to sincerely thank the Rainey family for sharing such a truly special person! May he rest in Peace

To this family,
I am penning this condolence, with a very heavy heart. I have known "George", as I called him, since he opened Rainey,s Restaurant and Lounge in the 60,s. It was the go to and or meeting place for the most westbank community residents as well as for many of the eastbank residents. Mr Rainey,s personality was outstanding and the food was delicious. I know that he will be missed by all. Thank God for a life well lived. I will continue to pray with this family and for this family.
