Gerald A. Perret Sr.

1933 - 2023

Gerald A. Perret, Sr., beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on September 28, 2023, age 90, at home with his loved ones. He was born in New Orleans on February 19, 1933, and resided in Metairie for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, George J. Perret, Jr. and Cecile R. Perret; brother, George J. Perret, III; and beloved sister, Joy Marie Perret. Gerald was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served during the Korean War. He was a member of Beachmaster Unit 1 and maintained lifelong friendships with these gentlemen and their wives over the years. Gerald was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Church. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances P. Perret and one son, Gerald A. Perret, II (Cynthia). He is also survived by his brother, Edmond Perret, Sr. (Carol) and sister-in-law, Bonita Graff. Beloved "Pere" to granddaughters, Jennifer P. Bellini (Nick) and Tiffany P. Mashburn (Chase), and seven great-grandsons, Nicholas Bellini, Jr., Chase Mashburn, II, Alexander Bellini, Cannon Mashburn, Connor Mashburn, Carter Mashburn, and Blaise Bellini, and a host of much-loved nieces and nephews. He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds ~ Psalms 147:3. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass to be celebrated in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 12:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM. The interment will follow the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
