To Mr. Smith, Beauty, Alton and family:
Pleae accept our most heart-felt grief in the passing of your dear wife and mother. Though time has forced us to be physically apart, the memories of yesterday linger of a strong family community of which Mrs. Smith was. We cherish the memories...

Mrs. Smith was my teacher for most of my classes exclusively from 5th to 8th grade at Shell Mound E.S.. She taught me everything -- about all subjects, including life. I am deeply indebted to her and we all loved her. She believed in us and she dedicated her life to improving the life conditions and future of her students. You have my deepest sympathy.

To Mr. Smith, Beauty, and "Baby" Brother, time has a way of healing our brokeness, though this may be heartbreaking, the Bible admonishes us to think on things that are true about her, things that are honest, things that are lovely, things that are of a good report, and then afterwards give GOD praise for the life she lived so well! She has touched so many of our lives, and we are all better because of her love to educate us! GOD truly knows and HE cares about you. You are in my thoughts and prayers a you pass through this season of mourning.
Be Encouraged!

To Mr Smith, Beauty, Brother, & the Garrett Family,
I was saddened when I heard that Mrs. Smith had passed. She was one of my favorite teachers along with Mr. Smith and an excellent 7th grade Science teacher! Her wit & humor in the classroom made learning about Science an enjoyable experience. She was one teacher who impacted my life and for that I'm grateful. May God bless and keep you is my prayer.

To Mr. Smith, Beauty, and Brother. I would like to first express my deep and sincere sympathy to all of you. Growing up on Willow Street was an experience all by itself. I will forever be greatful for the love and support the Smith family extended to all of us. We were a family and we learned so much from the educators. Mrs. Smith taught me and I will never forget my 8th grade year. Needless to say, stay close to God and as a result you will stay close to one another. I do miss seeing you guys. God Bless

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the family of Mrs. Geraldine Garrett Smith.
As a young girl helping my dad in our Vacherie Drug Store, I so admired the Garrett and Smith families. They truly were pillars of our community and one of the many reasons that the idea of
racism never entered my mind. I am a public school teacher in Jefferson Parish; however I still treasure the memories of many folks in the
country. I sincerely hope that there is a River Road Reunion in the Promised Land!

To Mr. Smith, Rev. Lucien Garrett, Bernadine and the rest of the family, someday we'll understand, every blank page of life and every torn page of pain, and all tear stained pages, our Lord will someday explain. You are in my thoughts especially at this time, may peace like a river flowing from above meet your deepest need as you walk in God's love.
