Gloria Mae Ragusa Garzotto

Gloria Mae Ragusa Garzotto passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018, in Metairie, Louisiana, at the age of 78. She was born on Wednesday, September 20, 1939 in Hammond, Louisiana to the late Frances Alfonso Ragusa and the late Thomas Nunzio Ragusa. She resided in Metairie, Louisiana but was a native of Hammond, Louisiana. She attended Hammond High School where she was Homecoming Queen and a Drum Majorette, and also attended Southeastern Louisiana University. She was Queen of the Krewe of Diana and a Maid in the Krewe of Alhambra in 1956. She was Miss Tangipahoa Parish in 1957 and was a stewardess for Delta Airlines. She was an accomplished cook, devoted mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend. Gloria is survived by her daughter, Gina Garzotto Comeaux; sons, Dr. Mark Gregory Garzotto and his wife Anne Myrthue, and David John Garzotto; grandchildren, Christina Marie Comeaux, Lea Sophia Garzotto, Helena Isabel Garzotto, and Eva Mae Garzotto; great-grandchild, Adeline Rae Karl; and godchild, Diane Tallo. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Nunzio Ragusa; mother, Frances Alfonso Ragusa; husband, Dr. George John Garzotto; and sister, Carmelite Ragusa Tallo. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 601 North Oak Street, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at from 10:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm.
