Gloria Jean McRoy, 92, of North Fort Myers, Florida, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017. She was born February 1, 1925 in Tipton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years Norman W. McRoy, and mother and stepfather Martha Jane and Lawrence C. Peters of West Liberty, Iowa. She is survived by son Lee (Mary) McRoy of Evansville, IN, daughter Jean Anne Bersch of Cape Coral, FL, brother Ross (Judy) Peters of West Liberty, IA, dear cousin Carolyn (Keith) Wood of Tipton, IA, brother-in-law Bill Daum of Murphysboro, IL, sister-in-law Mary Ann McRoy of Herrin, IL, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Gloria Jean and Norman raised their family in Murphysboro and Carbondale, IL before moving to St. Charles, MO in 1978, finally retiring to Six Lakes Country Club in North Myers, FL in 1983. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Churches in Murphysboro and Carbondale, IL, St. Charles, MO, and Riverside Baptist in Fort Myers, FL. She served her Lord as Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Librarian, and in many other capacities. She also worked as a Secretary for the Carbondale, IL school district, a Welcome Wagon Lady, and for 15 years in the greeting card department of the North Fort Myers Wal-Mart. The family wishes to thank her dear friends in the Prime Time Sunday School Bible Study Class at Riverside Baptist, and the staffs at Cape Coral Hospital, Health Park Rehab, Palm View Assisted Living at Gulf Coast Village, and Hope Hospice for their many kindnesses and gentle care. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice. A service will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at 1:00PM at Riverside Church. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in
Murphysboro, IL. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to the National Cremation and Burial Society.

Jean Ann:  I am so sorry to hear of your Mother's death.  What wonderful memories I have of her, being her neighbor for 16 years.  I am so sorry that I am not in Florida to attend services but please know how much I will miss her.
