Gloria Saldana-Davila Obituary

Gloria Saldana-Davila

Gloria Saldana-Davila, 90, of Findlay, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, in a peaceful transition to Heaven at home.

She was born Feb. 7, 1934, in Santa Maria, Texas, to Porfirio and Tomasa (Contreras) Davila. Gloria married Salvador "Chava" Saldana, they divorced, and he preceded her in death in 2016.

Gloria started life in a small rural town in Texas. In 1948, her father and three other siblings came to work in the fields of Ohio while her mom and remaining siblings stayed in Santa Maria until the family established a home in Findlay. She met Salvador Saldana and they married in 1951, but eventually divorced. Gloria had a strong work ethic and was a hard worker throughout her life. Some of her places of employment were Basol, Big Boy, Hancock County Nursing Home, and the Cigar Factory. Harris Semi-Conductor factory was her final place of employment after over 30 years when she retired in 1999.

Retirement allowed her to spend more time with family and gardening, especially her roses, and listening to Mexican music and embroidering. Gloria was a woman of strong faith in the Lord and was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish.

Gloria is survived by her children, Maria Saldana-Strait, Anita Kiene, Salvador L. Saldana Jr., Evila Saldana, and Joel Saldana, all of Findlay; grandchildren, Dr. Angela Courtney of Columbus, Leah (Clay) Bloyer of Findlay, Tressa (Grayson) Henry of Cleveland, Erica Saldana (Patrick Ferris) of Toledo, Tiara Kiene of Findlay, and Kayla (Dustin) Cass of Lansing, Michigan; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Salazar, Trenton Manns, Quentin Manns, Peyton Manns, Warren Bloyer, Ashley Bloyer, Jenna Bloyer, Clay Patrick Bloyer, Kanan Henry, Lola Henry, Sienna Saldana, Mitchell Ferris, Mercadies Saldana, and Pryce Saldana; seven great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Minerva Hernandez of Fostoria, Valdemar Davila of Fostoria, Joseph "Jose" (Anna) Davila of Santa Maria, Texas, and Beatrice (Fernando) Gonzales of La Feria, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Juanita Elia Davila, Jesse Davila, Eperanza Reyna, and Pofirio Davila Jr.

On behalf of our family, we wish to thank the staff at Interim HealthCare Hospice of Lima and Papa's caregivers for your professional services during our difficult time.
