Hal Robb Hopson, Sr. departed this life on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at his residence. He was a retired history professor and academic advisor. He served proudly in the U.S. Army including tours of duty with 101st Airborne & 1st Calvary Division. He was a Volunteer Tour Guide for Friends of the Cabildo and a writer and publisher of historical stories of New Orleans. Loving Husband of Carol Stein Hopson. Father of Hal R. Hopson, Jr. (Tamara), Missy Hopson Sparks (Cory) and Claire Hopson Procopio (Steven). Son of Irene Hopson and the late Albert Hopson. Brother of Elizabeth Lusk. Uncle of Lande and Rande Hoffman. Grandfather of Charlotte, Henry and Will Hopson; Beatrix and Ella Sparks; Sarah and Stephanie Procopio. Relatives, friends and members of First Methodist Church of Slidell are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at First Methodist Church of Slidell, 433 Erlanger Drive, Slidell, LA, beginning 10:30am.
