Harold Leo Block

Harold Leo Block, 99, beloved husband of the late Ula Troxler Block, died on November 18, 2021. He was a native of New Orleans, the son of the late Eugenie Fourrier and Charles D. Block Sr. Harold was preceded in death by his brother, Lt. Col. (Ret) Charles D. Block. He is survived by a niece and three nephews. During WWII he was awarded the Legion of Merit for his service as a Technical Sergeant in the China Theater Headquarters. A graduate of LSU, he worked for the Gulf Associated Freight Conferences in New Orleans, retiring in 1987 after 38 years. His niece and nephews knew him as a world traveler (twice around the world by the age of 21). A connoisseur of good food, volunteer at Ursuline Convent and the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Above all, he was an exceedingly kind and generous soul. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Tharp Sontheimer Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd, Metairie, LA on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 12:00 am with a Visitation starting at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum, Lake Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Masses or donations to St. Mary's Assumption Church, 2030 Constance Street, New Orleans, LA 70130 are appreciated.
