Harry Parke Obituary

PARKE Harry L. Parke passed from this life on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the age of 87. He was a faithful and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Delores Hingle Parke; children: Harry Jr. and Jean Parke of Slidell LA, Michael and Connie Parke of Baton Rouge LA, Stephen and Kathy Parke of Chesterfield SC, Gregory and Jane Parke of Mandeville LA; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Hall Dewitt; sisters: Willie Lenora Gregory, Annie St Angelo Marengo; brother, Phillip St. Angelo; and great-grandson, Jacob Parke. He was born in Brookside AL, and grew up in Brooklyn NY. He was a longtime resident of New Orleans LA, and a resident of Slidell LA for the past 5 years. He was a respected and faithful member of the First Pentecostal Church in Slidell and New Orleans, and a board member of the First Pentecostal Church of New Orleans. He served during WWII in the elite "Marine Raiders" unit of the United States Marine Corps. He was awarded the Purple Heart, and was a combat veteran in the battles of Bougainville, Emirau Islands, Guam, and Okinawa. He was a lifetime member of Disable American Veterans. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. Visitation will be held at FIRST PENTECOSTAL CHURCH of Slidell, 388 ROBERT Blvd, in Slidell, LA, on Sunday, March 13, 2011, from 4:00pm until 6:00pm and on Monday, March 14, 2011, from 9:00am until 11:00am. Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 6:00pm at the church. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011, at 11:00am at the church. So many fond memories of Bro. Parke and my dad Bro. Johnson. Two strong prayer warriors, dedicated to God. I'm sorry for your loss Sis. Parke. Bro. Parke was truly loved and will be missed by many. Love always and my deepest condolences to your family.
