Henry Coppock Obituary

COPPOCK Henry ""Hank'' Coppock, Jr., age 90, a resident of Metairie, LA and a native of Chicago, IL entered into eternal rest and into the arms of his Heavenly Father, his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 3:47 pm on Friday, December 15, 2006. Hank was born on July 13, 1916 in Chicago and was preceded in death by his father, Henry Coppock, Sr., his mother, Agatha Becker Coppock, his brother, Donald Coppock, and his sister, Mary Jane Coppock Rich. His loving wife of 65 years, Lorraine Sablotny Coppock, his daughter Carolyn Coppock Austin and her husband Ken, his son Curt Coppock and his wife Sonia and his son Craig Coppock and his wife Theresa survive him along with 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Hank was educated in Chicago and attended Chicago Christian College and the University of Illinois. He was a Lieutenant in the US Army and was a veteran of World War II where he piloted over 90 combat missions over France and Germany. He was the recipient of the coveted Air Medal. The American Can Company employed Mr. Coppock for 47 years where he retired as Quality Control Supervisor. He later became a local real estate agent and broker. Mr. Coppock faithfully served as a member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church since 1959. Hank was a 32nd degree Mason at Metairie Lodge #444 and at Tinley Park Lodge #810, Oak Park, IL. Relatives, friends and members of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church are invited to attend the Memorial Services and celebration of his life at St. Matthew's UMC, 6017 Camphor St., Metairie, LA on Friday, December 22, 2006 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm at the church. After the service please join the family in the Great Hall for refreshments and an opportunity to visit with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, Memorial gifts may be sent to St. Matthew's endowment fund. Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
