Henry Lee Moore was born on July 30, 1936, in Camden, Mississippi, to the loving union of Glaster “Hunter” Moore and Mollie Bennette Moore. He was the second of six children and cherished his family deeply.
In 1960, Henry embraced his faith, accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church. On August 1, 1959, he married the love of his life, Annie Laura Harper Moore. Their union was a testament of love and devotion for 64 beautiful years, blessed with five sons, 11 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Henry’s love for his family was immense, and he had a special passion for their salvation and well-being, as well as for everyone he met.
Henry spent his career as a mental health technician at St. Dominic’s Hospital, where he worked from 1973 until his retirement. His talents, however, extended far beyond his professional life. Without any formal training, he developed skills in various areas, from automotive repair to appliance maintenance. He was also an excellent landscaper, often winning “Yard of the Month” honors with his wife by his side. Athletic and energetic, Henry was an avid walker, covering several miles each day.
For over 60 years, Henry served faithfully as an elder in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was a minister to many, extending his compassion to troubled youth, the sick, and the incarcerated. His heart was open to orphans, runaways, widows, and the less fortunate, welcoming them into his home and life. Henry never missed an opportunity to share the love of God and the hope of His return, embodying his faith as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
On October 16, 2024, at 88 years old, Henry entered his rest in the Lord. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Annie Laura; his parents, Glaster Hunter and Mollie Moore; his son, Hunter Moore; his brothers, Percell, Robert L. Nathaniel, and James Moore; and his sister, Ermernell Moore Foster.
Henry now rests, awaiting the call of the trumpet at the first resurrection. He leaves behind four sons, John (Vanessa) of Houston, TX, Anthony (Deborah) of Louisville, KY, Edmund (Sherri) of Richmond, TX, and James (Brenda) of San Antonio, TX;11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and a large, loving circle of family and friends who cherish his memory.
