Dr. Herbert Wayne Henry

1947 - 2023

Dr. Herbert Wayne Henry of Mandeville, LA passed away on Thursday March 16, 2023. Wayne was born on May 15, 1947, in Baton Rouge, LA. Wayne is survived by his children Ann Elizabeth Matthews (Bryan), Susan Henry Ellis (David), and Robin Henry Powell (Chris), his grandchildren Christina, Julia, Nicholas, Bradley, Caroline, and Mason. He is also survived by his brother Dr. Bertram Henry (Cathy) as well as several in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Herbert Collins Henry and Mary Ellen Barnette Henry. Upon graduating from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1972, Wayne joined the Army Senior Program and was stationed at Letterman Hospital on the Presidio in San Francisco, CA. He trained in radiology and nuclear medicine, and as a Lieutenant Colonel, Wayne received the Army Commendation Medal in June 1981 for his outstanding service as Chief of Nuclear Medicine at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX. He later co-founded Northlake Radiology in Slidell, LA where he primarily worked at Slidell Memorial Hospital. Before fully retiring, Wayne worked for Brown-Folse Radiology group. Wayne was intrigued by the technological advances in medicine and had an enthusiasm for learning. During his lifetime, Wayne found interest in many hobbies including learning to fly helicopters, restoring Jaguars, and jeeping in Moab, UT. Above all else, Wayne was a loving and devoted father who enjoyed vacationing with his family in Cancun. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Friday, March 24, 2023, at 10:30 AM with visitation on Friday beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Southeast LA Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Road, Slidell, LA at 1:30 PM. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
