Fr. Hervé Racivitch

1928 - 2021

Fr. Hervé Racivitch, SJ, died Jan. 8, 2021, in Grand Coteau, La. He was 92 years old, a Jesuit for 70 years and a priest for 58 years. Born in New Orleans on Sept. 16, 1928, to former New Orleans District Attorney Hervé Racivitch and his wife Mary Helen d'Aquin Racivitch, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his sisters Barbara Ann (Mrs. Patrick J.) Butler and Judith Mary (Mrs. James) Setchell, as well as two nephews and five nieces. After graduating from Warren Easton High School in 1943 at the age of 14, he attended Tulane University, graduating with a B.A. in 1946, and then an LL.B. from the Tulane Law School in 1948. He entered the Jesuits in 1950 and was ordained a priest in 1962. He taught at Jesuit High New Orleans from 1965-71. Visit www.JesuitsCentralSouthern.org.
