Isidro "Yilo" Galeas

Isidro "Yilo" Galeas passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his immediate family, on August 9, 2023. Yilo was a retired merchant marine, accountant and poet. He was also a founding member of the Association Hondurena Unificada de Louisiana. He is survived by his lifelong partner Lucia Galeas, his son Jose and daughter Nora, his grandchildren Maya, Kristen, Sophia, Rasmiah, Taylar, Naim, Fatimah, and his great-grandchildren Evan, Saarah, Easton and Adam. He is also survived by his brothers Rene and Tulio Galeas and a host of nieces and nephews. Yilo lived a large life with gusto and few regrets. The family thanks his abundant friends and acquaintances for their support. We also extend our immeasurable gratitude to the staff of Hospice Associates and Lake Lawn Dignity Memorial for their kind services. A memorial service will be held on August 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home.
