Jack Gaines Bryan

Jack Gaines Bryan, age 90, slipped peacefully from this life in St. Amant, LA, on Thursday, December 18, 2014. Born March 11, 1924, in Birmingham, AL, he was a proud graduate of Tulane University and enjoyed a long and successful career at Dameron-Pierson Office Supply in New Orleans. A man of many interests, Jack relished any opportunity to fish, golf, hunt, woodwork, or explore North America in his Airstream trailer. Adored as "Ghee" by his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, he was a faithful deacon and member of First Baptist Church, Slidell, and a loyal (and longsuffering!) New Orleans Saints fan. Jack will be remembered for his great friendliness and his selfless generosity. He was preceded in death by first wife, Eleanor Bryan, son Jack David Bryan, and siblings Bettye Ruth Kay, Vann Reid Bryan, and Patricia Clarke. He is survived by wife, Kathryn D. Bryan of Ruston; children Patricia & Jim Freeman of St. Amant, Jan Sibley of Baton Rouge, Ellen & Mickey Bryce, of Mesa, AZ, Len & Cindi Woods, of Ruston; brother Richard Bryan and sister-in-law Maryleeane, of Lakeway, TX; brother-in-law Pete Clarke of Seattle, WA. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 2, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Slidell, LA. Visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m. A private burial will be held in Waveland, MS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
