James Daigle Obituary

James Harold "Jimmy" Daigle, Jr., passed away peacefully on May 10, 2021, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Jimmy was born in New Orleans on February 12, 1970. During his childhood, he enjoyed summers at his maternal grandmother's home in Straubing, Germany where he learned to speak German fluently and developed a keen interest in soccer, particularly FC Bayern München. Jimmy graduated from St. Martin's Episcopal School where he played soccer, and ran cross-country and track, receiving the Tony Porter Award for track. Jimmy furthered his education at Georgetown University where he earned bachelor's degrees in Political Science and German and played rugby. He also interned for Congressman Robert Livingston and worked at the American Enterprise Institute during his time in Washington, D.C. Jimmy was a graduate of Tulane University Law School. During his time in law school, he attended programs in European Law and Civil and International Law at Freie Universität, Berlin, and Universita de Siena, Italy, respectively. After law school, Jimmy interned for the Honorable Morey L. Sear, Chief Judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Jimmy initially practiced law at Best Koeppel, P.L.C. and then at Klein-Daigle, L.L.C. After Hurricane Katrina, Jimmy temporarily moved to Los Angeles, California where he practiced Immigration Law until he returned to New Orleans and established his own firm. Most recently, Jimmy was a Shareholder at Jackson Law International. He was a member of the Louisiana Bar and the Maritime Law Association. Jimmy was intellectually engaging and well versed in history. He also enjoyed playing golf and listening to classical music. Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother, Margarete, and is survived by his father, James, Sr., and his brother, Christian (Stacy), and two nephews, Erich and Thomas. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins in Germany and the United States. Jimmy was interred at Metairie Cemetery following a private Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Rosary Church.
