I knew Don very well for a time in our lives. We met by a collision of coincidences and he was immediately memorable, if not a bit of a ham. He was both a sophisticate and a lovable cad. He was, in every way to me, a refined Southern, true, "gentle" man. His eye for detail and imagination were razor sharp. I never met another mind as broadly gifted as he and his company and stories were my fondest memories of the '80s and '90s. There are a precious few who die that, when they do, you feel at once privileged and devastated that you knew them at all.
My deepest condolences to the family regarding his son and events, also. I met him on a few occasions at the house near Tchoupitoulas, I believe, and he was an impressive young man at the time.
Forgive me for posting this so late. I only found out today. I hoped to see more photos of him online but found only two. I'd be very appreciative if you care to share others.
BE well,
ZL
