James Normand Obituary

NORMAND James "Jimmy" Normand, Sr., age 84, was born on November 26, 1926 and passed away September 23, 2011. He was a native of Mansura, LA. He joined the Navy at age 16 and served his country during WWII in the Pacific Rim. After he was discharged he married Vera Hughes and resided in Chalmette, LA where he raised his seven children, James Glen Normand (Diane), James Normand, Jr., Faith Normand Weidenhaft (Richard), James Van Normand (Pamela), Andree Normand (Earl), James Charles Normand (Barbara) and James Adrian Normand. He was a proud grandfather to 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lestan and Alice Normand, brothers Lestan, Jake and Joe, also sisters Doris, Thelma and Virgie. He is survived by his sisters Lola Mae Couvillion, Betty Bize, Claudia Bordelon and Janet Schlein and numerous nieces & nephews. He will be greatly missed by many who knew and loved him. A Mass will be celebrated on October 9, 2011 with family and friends.

I am so sorry for your loss. Jimmy was a fine man who loved his family. I recall many good times playing cards with him at the old house. I remember him fussing at Buddy D. after the Saints games, and I remember him loving to cook for his family.. My daddy surely enjoyed his company as well.
