Janice Ancalade Obituary

Janice Gagliano Ancalade passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the age of 66. Loving mother of Sheri Russell (Tracy Sr.) and Mark Ancalade (Ashlee). Daughter of the late Anthony Gagliano Sr. and Genevieve Fontana Gagliano. Sister of Mathew Gagliano, Linda Bennett (Romel), Perry Gagliano (Debbie), and the late Vincent Gagliano Sr., Lena Mae Rabalais, Anthony Gagliano Jr., Joseph Gagliano Sr. and Nicky Gagliano Sr. Proud Grandmother of Tracy Russell Jr., Zachary Russell, Dominick Ancalade, Andre Ancalade and Francesca Ancalade. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Janice was born on February 21, 1951 in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St Bernard Parish. After 50 years of dedication to Adler's she retired. The Adler's Family treated her as part of their family. Her purpose in life was Adler's. Her pride and joy was to love her grandkids and family. She imparted to her children the importance of family. Mark and Sheri are the parents they are today because of her example. She took on many rolls such as Mother, Nana, Aunt, Friend, Everything, and Our Hero! Janice will be dearly missed, forever loved, never forgotten by her family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. I remember Janice's smile and her kindness. I left town but visited often and loved seeing her. I worked with Clara Rhodes in the Bookkeeping Dept in the summers. I know that Adler's is far better for having had Dear Janice and Dear Clara there for so many years. May they rest in Peace.

Please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss. My mother, Clara Rhodes, was also a long time employee at Adler's and she had my 2 sisters & I work at Adler's during the summer. This is where I met Janice. I have many fond memories of her and those summers. I was so sorry to see her picture in the obituary page. Please know your family are in my prayers. Sincerely,
