Janis Wright Magee passed away on April 14, 2024, at 77. She graduated from George Washington Carver Sr. High School in 1964. She is survived by her four children, Prince Jackson, Florence Woods, Ellie Wright, and Bryan Wright, and her four grandchildren, Bryan Richard, Trinity Jackson, Prince Jackson Jr., and Amira Wright. Janis was the rock of her family, always putting them first. Her love and strength were felt by her sisters and brother, Alice, Sandra, and Donald, as well as her sister-in-law, Gertrude Brown Wright. Her large family of cousins, nieces, nephews, a son-in-law, daughters-in-law, and wonderful friends will remember her with love and fondness. Janis was preceded in death by her husband, Ellie "George" Magee, parents Herman & Mamie D. Wright, and five siblings, Corina, Cynthia, Isaac Lee Wright, Herman Wright, Jr., and Celeste Wright. Janis will be laid to rest beside her husband at Providence Memorial Park, surrounded by a small gathering of family. Her legacy will live on through her family and friends, who will never forget her kind heart, infectious laugh, and unwavering love for those around her.
