Michaelen Lee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Boyd Family Funeral Home on Feb. 18, 2026.
Michaelen "Michael" Lee, age 74, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at approximately 2:55 p.m. Michael was born on May 14, 1951, in Denham Springs, Louisiana, to the late Leonard Lee and Mary Boyd. He was baptized at an early age and lived a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion to his family. He was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he attended McDonogh #40 and graduated from George Washington Carver High School.

On July 21, 1999, Michael was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Mattie Bee Harris, at New Hope Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. Their marriage was built on love, companionship, and unwavering devotion. Michael was a dedicated provider and hardworking man. He worked with Boh Brothers for 10 years and later devoted 28 years of service to Cytec, where he retired. He was respected for his strong work ethic, wisdom, humor, and loyal spirit.

Affectionately known as "Mr. Mike," Michael enjoyed traveling with his wife, family, and close friends, creating memories that he cherished deeply. He had a curious and creative spirit and enjoyed making frozen cups, homemade pickles, fishing, fellowshipping with his NA family, and playing dominoes and cards with his Harris family and friends. Michael believed that family time was the best time. Michael took great pride in being a grandfather. He found immense joy supporting his grandchildren at track meets, basketball games, dance recitals, and graduation ceremonies. He loved dining out with his children, family, and friends. Michael was a devoted football fan who supported different teams each Sunday - except the Saints.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Mattie Lee; his children, Marick Lee, Teyinna Weatherspoon (Davey), Marvin Lee, and Michael Lee (Kaironisha); ten grandchildren, Nai'l, Davey, Jaden, Mikel, Marvin Jr., Merek, Myles, Camille, Makenzine, and Mariah; one great-granddaughter, Nai'jai; two sisters, Shelia (Gary) Morrison and Rev. Debra (Romans) Keller; one brother, Larry Gross; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Preceded in death by his father, Leonard Lee; sisters: Shirley and Faye; brothers: Charles and Donaldray Boyd; and son, Michael Lee, Jr. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service on Friday, February 20, 2026, for 12:00 p.m. at Gentilly Baptist Church, 5141 Franklin Avenue New Orleans, Louisiana 70122. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Rev. Debra Keller, officiating. Interment is private. Guestbook Online: www.anewtraditionbegins.com (504)282-0600. Linear Brooks Boyd and Donavin D.
