To the Dumes Family. If anyone knows what you're going through, I certainly do. I don't know you nor your son; I was just browsing through the obituary because I used to live in NOLA before Katrina and moved north because during that time I too lost my son. I know how painful it is for you as a mother especially, but just remember this, in time God will heal your wounded heart,you may not think so right now but he'll replace it with all of the fond memories, the laughter, the not so good times, and the most important, the love you and him shared, that's what makes all the difference in the world. Don't think he's not watching over your family, because he is, and don't want you to be sad for him because he's with a Glorified Father who loves him unconditionally. My prayers for your family is that you find peace and comfort from the Lord, knowing that even though you can't see him, he's still with you, and he's embeded in your heart where he'll never leave. I promise you, God will give you peace and comfort in due time. Be Blessed, and live life to the fullest is what your son would want for you. JH

I was stricken with sadness when I heard the news of Jarrod's passing. I always remember him (at New Hope) as a cute little boy dressed in his white high top shoes and the cutest outfits. I saw him again several years later and he still had the sweetest disposition,warm smile,and remained a great dresser. Seeing his graduation photo shows once again those same characteristics. I know that you'll miss him. I'll miss asking about him but I'll have fond memories of Jarrod as a kid and knowing how much you loved him. Joan & Mr. Dume, Jarrod was your angel here on earth and I know that heaven is rejoicing! Know that God blessed you with Jarrod and you've blessed God by loving and sharing your son with so many who loved him, as is evidenced by the numerous entries in this book! To the Dumes Family,
What can be said to ease your pain, emptiness, and ache? Answer, GOD. Hunan life will NEVER fully comprehend death. But those who have REAL FAITH in God and His Will, in time come to understand, accept, and get the WHY in all of this.
I am a mother of 3 children and your son enjoyed spending time with the Opelousas, LA wanna be cowboys and cowgirls(smile).Roshondrik,Ramon, Cody,Josh, Brittany,Sydney,and Phillip are all sadden as I work to help them see PURPOSE in God's Will with you son. Do know that his early earthly departure PROUFOUNDLY affected the lives of these young people. And because of this, Jarrod's life and death had REAL SPIRITUAL PURPOSE!!!
NO parent should funeralize their child and I sit this Saturday morning thinking of you: the mommy and daddy. I have traveled that difficult road personally. Do know that you will be better, stronger, and filled with love of life with Faith. It does happen with the Lord on your side. I have prayed for your family and that everyone touched by your son finds purpose and vision in God's calling of Jarrod, NOT early or too soon, BUT RIGHT ON HIS TIME.

Mrs. Joan - As I type, it is still very very hard for me to accept God's will even though I know God never makes mistakes. Jarrod was like a little brother to me. I remember picking up Arthur, Sheldon, and Jarrod from football practices at Shaw. He was an amazing young man with a heart of gold. I was the PreK assistant in Jarrod's class when he attended St. Rosalie. He was always a happy child. I also attend St. Cletus Church, and often I would see Jarrod & his dad at mass. It would always bring back memories of his elementary school days. He grew up to be a fine young man, and I'm saddened by his death.
