Jeanne Weidell Obituary

WEIDELL Jeanne Perrien Dempsey Weidell passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 20 2011 at 0741. She was 80. She will be missed by all that knew her. Mom, "Granny" to most, did not know a stranger. She dearly loved and cared for other people. She had a habit of making people smile, always carrying an infectious upbeat attitude. Whether you are an airline pilot on Southwest1722 or a concierge at the Hilton, she probably brought you candy or donuts a time or two. As she would say, she got her "high" from making people happy. She was married to Johnnie Dempsey raising two sons Jay and Jan. When Johnnie passed at 32 she collected us up and headed to California, full speed ahead, the way she did everything. She later married Henry Weidell and was with him until he passed. Since, she moved around a bit making Friends in Baton Rouge, Biloxi and especially Fayette Alabama and the wonderful people there. She loved Family and really loved her incredible and special Friends Jan and John. Those are Saints, Jan and John, and not just to Mom. She was the embodiment of New Orleans, the city and people being part of her soul. She loved to dance and she loved a nice bright yellow sweater with matching bright yellow pants. She was stubborn as a mule and tough as a 500 pound gorilla. She loved our Armed Forces, but first and foremost she was a Marine Wife and Mom with both husbands and sons, Marines. She loved the Marine Corps and Marines, helping young Marines as a volunteer in the Navy Relief Society and serving meals and cookies to those going to Viet Nam. She already had two wakes before she died so "she could enjoy them", a little nuts, but that's our Mom. She left her body to the LSU Medical Center and that is done as she wanted it. Please, a Christmas offering to help our wounded veterans at http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org would touch our hearts. Jeanne is survived by her sons, Jay's wife Sheila, granddaughters Melissa and Sandie and great-grandchildren Alec and Avery. The world has lost a special person and Heaven has gained a new Angel. Love you Mom, your sons Jay and Jan.

Jeanne, I am so happy that God gave you to me, Charlene and the kids. You were a blessing and I'm sorry that we lost touch those last few months after PCSed to Camp Pendleton. The last time we spoke was on Halloween and it hurts my heart to know that we didn't talk before you checked out. We love you and we all miss you. Thanks for the cookies!

Granny, you will be missed! You were a "special lady" full of life and love. You always brought a smile to my face and a song in my heart. I will never forget you. Such a sweet soul! Love ya forever! Your Friend & State Farm rep, Judy Duhon
