Jeffry Henton Obituary

Jeffry Marc Henton, age 70, of Panama City Beach, FL, passed away on March 27, 2024. Jeff was born to John M. Henton and Dorothy D. Henton on June 4, 1953 in Mattoon, IL. He will be remembered as a doting grandfather, a proud father and a loving husband. Jeff retired from Lockheed Martin as a welding supervisor after proudly supporting the Space Shuttle Program for over 20 years. Throughout his life, Jeff always took care of his family. For years, he was the voice of school bingo games, he coached his kids' sports teams and always made sure they had a hearty breakfast before school. In retirement Jeff embraced all things Apple, model trains and the shooting sports. As a grandfather, he spent many nights camping with his sons and grandchildren in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. He enjoyed the beach life with his daughter, son-in-law and their children. He remained an avid dog lover. In his later years, Jeff explored his faith and took comfort in his relationship with God. The family would like to express its profound gratitude to the caring professionals in the ICU at Ascension Sacred Heart Bay Hospital in Panama City, FL. The care and attention he received in his last days provided immeasurable comfort and support to Jeff and his family. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents John and Dorothy Henton. He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorinda Henton Florea and Ron; Suzanne Henton Ehrbar and Greg; his wife of over 50 years, Rachel (Liz) Samrow Henton; his three children and their spouses, Christopher and Shannon Henton; Benjamin and Jenifer Henton; and Theresa and Vincent Prejean; his eight grandchildren, Sydney, Elise, Aiden, Meredith, Miriam, Declan, Cullen and Bennett; many wonderful nieces and nephews and of course, his beloved dog, Knox. They will all miss him greatly. A Funeral Mass will be held on April 19 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 61030 Brier Lake Dr., Lacombe, LA 70445. In lieu of flowers, please honor Jeff and his love of dogs by donating to your local pet rescue facility.

I worked closely with Jeff for 15 years during the ET's lithium welding phase. His quiet manner and steadfast acceptance of the welding difficulties presented by the new metal benefitted all who worked with him. He was an unassuming ingredient to the success of the Welding department.
