Jerome Corona Obituary

Jerome (Coach) F. Corona was born to the late Dominick Corona and Clara Gallo Corona on November 12, 1938, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, the late Patricia Coye Corona. Jerome served in the U.S. Navy from the years of 1958-1962. He also worked with the leadership organization "Meals on Wheels" for 30 years and served his community. He volunteered and worked at Delta Playground for over 50 years and was an active 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, council #9347. Coach is survived by his children: Dawn Corona (Mike), Catherine Chatelain (Ray), Anthony Corona (Evelyn), Robert Corona (Erin), and Michael Corona (Michelle). He is also survived by his sister, Carmen Corona DeGruy (Lou) as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is the adoring grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Coach loved boxing, baseball, football, track, and basketball. He also loved coaching and watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grand children playing sports. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Our Lady of Divine Providence Church, 8617 W. Metairie Ave, Metairie, LA 70003 on Saturday, March 12, 2022. Visitation will begin at 9 AM with a Mass starting at 1PM followed by interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001. Arrangements are under the care of Garden of Memories Funeral home. A Celebration of life to follow at Delta Playground from 4pm-7pm. In addition to flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Ochsner Health Department of Philanthropy, 1514 Jefferson Highway, New Orleans, LA 70121 giving.ochsner.org and East Jefferson Cancer Center LCMC Health, 4200 Houma Boulevard Metairie, LA 70006 interland3.donorperfect.net.
