Jerry Edward Fortenberry, age 79, of Somerset, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Jerry was born on August 4, 1939 in Spartenburg County, South Carolina . He was the son of the late Leland R. Fortenberry and Maggie Lawter Fortenberry. He was a volunteer fire fighter for years at Reidville Fire Department in South Carolina.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Gracie Mae Tucker Fortenberry; sons, Junior (Regina) Fortenberry of Nancy; Willie (Darlene) Fortenberry of Shopville; eight grandchildren, Chelsea Quillen; Ryan Fortenberry; Brittany Fortenberry; Jessica Nix; Shana Ware; Tiffany Fortenberry; Jonathan Fortenberry and Devin Fortenberry; seven great grandchildren, Allie Nix; Skye Fortenberry; Ava Nix; Adyn Brummett; Charles Nix; Joseph Nix; Carter Quillen; Leah Quillen and Katie Quillen; one brother, Walker (Joann) Fortenberry of Duncan, South Carolina; two sisters, Mary (Grover) Fincher of Florence, South Carolina and Juanita Anthony of Rockhill, South Carolina.
He is preceded in death by his father, Leland R. Fortenberry; his mother, Maggie Lawter Fortenberry.
Arrangements are pending at this time and will be announced at a later date.
Somerset Undertaking Company & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
