Jesse B. Johnson

Jesse B. Johnson departed from this life and entered into eternal life with a peaceful smile, at his residence on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the age of 76. He was a native of Wisner, LA and a resident of Terrytown, LA. Jesse was employed with various cab companies in the New Orleans area for over 50 years. Loving husband of 53 years to Sara McGown Johnson. Devoted father of Mildred, Katina, Terry, Eric (Monica) Derrick, Mervyn and the late Terrell "Big Fat". He was also, instrumental in the rearing of 4 of his grandchildren Jarmual, Nisha, Terrell, Jerrell, and 2 of his great grandchildren Jahlin and Chloe. Son of the late Dewey and Bessie Johnson. Brother of the late Henry, Willie, Joshua, Dewey, Jr. Robert, and Bernice Johnson, Easter Wilford, and Esther Madison. Son-in-law of Jessie L. Brown. Brother-in-law of Norma Johnson, Linda, Glenda, Nancy, Brenda, Judy (Doug), Larry (Lucinda) and Jake. Cousin of Louis Johnson. Devoted friend of Nicol Charles Walker, Ruth Sandifer, and Elma Bridges; also survived by 40 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, Holly Grove Baptist Church of Wisner, LA and all neighboring churches; employees of Liberty, Marrero, White Fleet and Yellow Cab Companies are invited to attend the Funeral Service at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, 1738 L. B. Landry Ave., New Orleans, LA on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Norman Francis, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
