Jill Boyd Obituary

Jill Smith Boyd, 75, was called to her heavenly home on February 27, 2023. Jill, a native New Orleanian, was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Dorothy Smith, her brother August Smith, and sister Evangeline Seals. Jill was the proud mother of four children, Giselle Goins (Gavin Sr.), Michele Mitchell (Rockie), Walter Boyd Jr., Candace Stanton (Omar); and an even prouder grandmother to Gavin Goins Jr., Jessica Williams (Justen), Danielle Williams (Brandon), Shane Goins, Kain Mitchell, Madison Harrington (Travis), Orion Boyd Hurst, Ja'net Williams (Jordan Sr.), Jarell Boyd, Walter Boyd, III, Justin Stanton, and Jaden Stanton; great grandchildren Cameron, Brayden, Zalani, August, Kasimere, Jordan Jr., and Emery; her sister Cynthia Wingate (Michael Sr.), a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Jill accepted her Lord and Savior at a young age and later in life joined the Catholic faith where she was a member of Auxiliary Ladies of Knights of Peter Claver. Jill's big smile and love of her children and grandchildren will truly be missed, but her zest for life and memories of her will be cherished forever. Services will be held Monday, March 6, 2023, at 10:00am at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 4700 Pineda St. New Orleans, LA 70126. Visitation begins at 9:00am until the hour of service. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, 10400 Old Gentilly Road, New Orleans, LA, 70127. Arrangements entrusted to Heritage Funeral Directors, 4101 St Claude Ave., New Orleans, LA., 70117.
