Jimmy Simon Aucoin

1945 - 2023

Jimmy Simon Aucoin, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the age of 77 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on October 30, 1945, to Volca L. Aucoin and Auguste (Gussie) Brunet Aucoin. Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Louis Gene Aucoin. Jimmy leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Brenda Vicknair Aucoin; he is the cherished father of Robyn Aucoin, Joseph (Joey) Aucoin (Lura), and Renee Folse; proud grandfather of Kirsten Levet (Joey), Keiran Kyzar (Shadia), Madeleine Melancon (Connor), Holden Melancon, Jude Aucoin (Faith), and Colin and Jonah Folse; doting great-grandfather of Christian and Samuel Levet, Walker Isbell, and Baby Girl Aucoin; caring brother of Edward Aucoin (Judy); brother-in-law to Kenny Vicknair (Debbie) and Kevin Vicknair (Carol); and the mother of his three children, Charlotte Aucoin. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews whom he adored and many friends who will miss him. Jimmy attended F.T. Nicholls High School and graduated in 1963. Sixty years after graduation, he still attended and participated in alumni functions. Jimmy proudly served in the New Orleans Police Department as a Sergeant, retiring after 32 years of service. He was a member of the F.O.P. Crescent City Lodge #2 and would attend meetings whenever possible to unite with his old friends. Jimmy enjoyed his hobby of breeding and racing pigeons with the Greater New Orleans Combine. He was a lover of animals. His furry friends, Sophie, Jasper, and three cats (Poncho, Cisco, and Ms. Bootsie), were always by his side. The family would especially like to thank Joel Piazza (Linda), Robert McNeil (Connie), Sandra Hingle (Norman), Kiko Rodriguez, and Iosvany Rivero for their help and inspiration during this past year.
