John Armand Obituary

ARMAND John Armand, Sr., eighty-one years young, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Fay, of 60 years. He was a resident of Covington, since Hurricane Katrina, when they lost their home in Lakeview. He was the father of John Jr., Jan (Ronnie,) & Joni Armand. Also the loving Grandfather of Darcy Salles (Keith,) Jonathan, Chris & Michael Armand. He was the Great-Grand-father of Molly & Megan Salles. The loving son of Lessie Mayeux, and Dr. Emile J. Armand, Sr., of Loyola University. He was the brother of the late George Armand (Zella,) and the late Emile Armand, Jr. (Ann.) Also survived by nieces and nephews: Georgia, Jeanine, Tim & Byron Armand. He served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army as a Corporal First Class from 1951 to 1953. While in the army, he was promoted to Leadership School to teach inductees. He was a successful agent for New York Life Insurance Company, for over 40 years. After his retirement, he and his wife traveled & enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by his whole family. We will miss his love and wonderful sense of humor, each day. Thanks to Doctors Hospice for service above & beyond. Also, thanks to River Regions Hospice Hospital for their assistance. Many thanks to the Key Home Health Care nurses & therapists, whom he adored. Relatives & friends are invited to the visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, on Friday, February 24, 2012, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery. I was friends with Joni in school and remember going to the house with her. Mr. (and Mrs.) Armand were always very nice to all of us girlfriends. I think of you all often as I pass the the old place... My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
