John T. Beck Sr.

BECK John T. Beck, Sr. "Jack" was born June 6, 1917 and died July 27, 2012 at 8:00pm in the comfort of his home with family by his side. Beloved son of the late Robert V. Beck and Blanche Pazos Beck, he was the last surviving child and has now been reunited with his siblings: Alma Beck Knecht, Mabel, Albert, Francis, Lloyd and Margaret. Jack is survived by his devoted wife Alma Perrier Beck whom he loved dearly over 66 years. He is also survived by brother-in-law Rev. Monroe G. Perrier, C.Ss.R.; sons: John "Jack" Jr., Gerard and wife Lisa; daughters: Mary Majella "Jama", Rosary and husband Albert Camburn; grandchildren: Jared, Meredith, Matthew, Ella, Rachel, Brandon, and Jaxon; great grandchildren: Cooper and Gabe. Jack often talked about his happy memories in the Chen Yu [True Friend] Fraternity in the late 1930's. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served as a Staff Sergeant in World War II from 1942-1946. Jack was a loyal office manager and book keeper for Duffy Lumber Company until his retirement. He was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, traveling, classical music, and reciting poetry. The family would like to acknowledge Hospice Compassus with heartfelt thanks especially to: Laurie, Kathy, Melantha, Lucy, and Frances. A memorial service and mass will be held Friday, August 3, 2012 at St. Mary's Assumption Church, 2030 Constance Street, New Orleans at 11:00am.
