John Daly Obituary

Dr. John M. Daly, a retired Dermatologist and Allergy Specialist, passed away peacefully at home on May 6, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 1, 1931 to Dr. O.P. Daly and Mrs. Gertrude Scranton Daly, and has been a lifelong resident of our city and state. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Patsy Lee d'Aquin Daly and his three sons, J. Michael Daly, Jr. (Jennifer), David Scranton Daly (Lexi), and Scott Christopher Daly (Aundrea). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mignon E. Daly, John Michael "Jack" Daly III, Conner S. Daly, Colleen E. Daly, Christian d'Aquin Daly, and Caroline G. Daly. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. O.P. Daly and Mrs. Gertrude Scranton Daly, and his three siblings, Nita Bordelon, Dorothy Compton, and Dr. O.P. "Buddy" Daly, Jr. Jack, as he was known to many, attended Metairie Park Country Day School and Riverside Academy, later graduating from Louisiana State School of Medicine and serving as Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He went on to own his own practice as a Dermatologist and Allergy Specialist, the fourth generation of his family to practice medicine in Louisiana. Jack was a member of NOCC and several Carnival organizations. He was also a member of the Sons of the Revolution and The Society of the War of 1812. Jack was an active lifelong member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was an avid gardener and loved cooking, famous for his annual Hoppin' John on New Year's Day. But most of all, he loved his family and was always excited to share the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 1:00 pm at St. Francis Xavier Church, Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am at the church located at 444 Metairie Rd., Metairie, Louisiana, 70005. Interment will be private. To the Daly family,
Many years ago I used to babysit for all 3 of you boys when you were little kids. I always liked sitting for your family. Your parents were so friendly and pleasant.
So sorry to hear the news about your Dad. My condolences to the entire Daly family.

Pat- sad news received this a m from Pat White. Sorry I didn't know in time to attend the service. We did have a few (too few) good times together which are fond memories. How about we come down some town soon and visit. I will call this weekend . Jim Pierson

Daly boys,

I'm sad to hear this news, and can't imagine the sadness you all must feel; however, I hope you can be comforted by the faith your Dad lived. I enjoyed being around your Dad, and his many kindnesses have given me fond memories of the corner of Stella and Geranium.

I will keep y'all in my prayers.

My condolences, God bless him and his family. He was a wonderful doctor. A kinder man or better doctor I've rarely met.

My sympathies and prayers go out to the entire Daly family. I know what a loss you must be feeling at this time. He was a great man, one of the best of the best! I was a patient of his for 15+ years. He was one of the kindest and most compassionate doctors I have ever met. He set a very high bar for healthcare professionals and I have not found another doctor quite like him. He and I used to talk gardening at length on every visit.

Dear Pat and Scott and family,
It has been so many years since we have seen you all, but what fond memories I have of Jack's friendly greetings whenever we saw him, his great pleasure and pride in Scott's job for Disney in France...what a dear, enthusiastic person! I know your memory bank is full of wonderful memories. Peace to you all.
Fondly, Mary Sue Roniger
