John Douroux Obituary

John (Paul) Douroux, Jr., 76 years of age, passed away in Plantation, Florida on February 9, 2022. Born in New Orleans on December 22, 1945, he attended Holy Cross High School and Southeastern Louisiana College in Hammond, Louisiana. Paul relocated to Plantation, Florida in 1989 to be near his daughter. He had a successful career spanning more than 20 years in the garment industry where he was a teacher, mentor, and friend, touching the lives of so many. He retired from Levi Strauss & Co. in 2010. He lived a life full of travel, experiences, and fun. In retirement, his primary focus was his grandchildren. He aimed to enrich their lives however he could: school pick-ups, bookstore visits, afternoon activities, trips, and treats. Their happiness was his happiness. He is predeceased by his parents, the late John Paul Douroux, Sr. and Aline Broussard Douroux. Paul is survived by his beloved daughter Danielle Douroux Layne, his son-in-law Joseph Layne, and granddaughters Madeline and Emily who brought joy every day to their "Papa." He was the brother of three sisters: Suzanne Pecot (Richard Pecot), Judith Amox, and Nancy Parmelee. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Lake Lawn Funeral Home on Friday, February 18, 2022 beginning at 10:00am, followed by a Catholic internment at the All Saints Mausoleum at 11:00am. A visitation was also held last Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Fred Hunter Funeral Home in Plantation, Florida.

My sincerest condolences to the Douroux and Layne family. I had the pleasure of working with Paul in the Levi Strauss & Company office in Weston, Fl. We had kept in touch over the years after we both retired. I always found him to be a very interesting individual and, most of all, a very good friend. As will his family, I will miss picking up the phone and calling him. May he Rest In Peace.

Paul was quite the character back in the day at LS&Co. and I mean that in the best way possible. It was such a blessing and honor to have had the opportunity to learn from him. Every conversation with Paul resulted in a smile.
It is wonderful and comforting to know that his life after LS&Co. was filled with the love and joy of family.
Please accept my deepest, heartfelt condolences. The World has another angel looking over us.

Worked with Paul for 19 years. Never a dull moment when Paul was around. Many great memories, especially the day I accidently threw away his orange from the office refrigerator. LOL you can imagine the laughs we got that day. My deepest condolences to his family. He was truly one of a kind.

I am so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. My mother & his were high school friends and stayed friends through their lives. I recently had the pleasure of reuniting with his three sisters. I remember him as a very friendly and funny person in our youth much like his Dad. God Bless Paul and his family.

I knew him as Paul. He was my boss and teacher for many years at Levi Strauss. His constant supervision and training helped me in become a leader and manager business beyond Levi´s. He spoke often of his daughter and his love for her was evident. RIP Paul.
