John Ducoing Obituary

On Monday, March 15, 2021, John E. Ducoing "Chewy", a Veteran of the United States Navy, died at the age of 83. John was born in New Orleans on December 19, 1937 to the late Eugene and Clara Ducoing. From the age of 7 he grew up in St. Bernard Parish where he would meet and marry the love of his life, the late Donna Rausch. From there his family grew with daughter, Angél (the late Gordon Alfonso) and son, Sean (Debbie); grandchildren, Travis (Sara) and Ralph (Xiomara); great grandchildren, Todd, Jr., Fernanda and Saura; great-great grandson, E.J. Also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, Lucifer (grand-kitty), Willie Nelson (great-grand kitty) and Trixie (grand-dog). In addition to his wife and parents, John was also preceded in death by all of his brothers, Junior, Tuttie and Rodney; sisters, Emelda, Evelyn and Lorraine; daughter, Erica Angelique and grandson, Todd, Sr. In his many years in the parish, John became a Master Plumber in which he worked a number of jobs, Chalmette Plumbing, Schaff Bros., Tony's Hardware and St. Bernard Port, not to mention the many people of St. Bernard Parish that he helped with his plumbing services. He was well known and loved throughout the parish. He was always willing to help anyone, but if there was a hard way of doing something, then that is the way that he wanted it done. He loved hunting, fishing, joker poker and gardening. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. A Celebration of Life honoring Mr. John "Chewy" Ducoing will be held at The Abby Rose, 2900 Oak Ridge Blvd., Violet, LA, on Saturday, April 10, 2021, any time after 2 PM. Chewy was a wonderful grandfather! Growing up around him was a huge blessing, because I have learned many helpful things from him. He has taught me a lot about plumbing and construction, but most importantly he taught me how to love your neighbors. He was always cooking something, mostly seafood, and was always sending me all around the neighborhood with food to give out to everyone. Everyone loved him because of his selflessness. He would help anyone. Memories with him will always be cherished, and my family and I will love and miss him forever!
