Johnny was a good guy. Not many people can have that said about them. He was always there if you needed something, with a laugh and smile. My thoughts and prayers to Maria and his family.

I shall always cherish your friendship. In spite of some of our foolish behavior, we survived the 60s and LSU together. I still can remember your trip to Alaska to visit when the king salmon flipped your kayak and forced you under in an unanticipated barrel roll only to come up the other side still holding onto the fishing pole for dear life while yelling for instructions on what to do. My kids and I were laughing much too hard to respond. We had so many fun times over the last 4+ decades. I never gave it much thought but it seems that you and I must have come to the conclusion that if it was not fun, it was not worth doing. I hope that your Maria can make it up this way to see for herself what you fell in love with.

Johnny was a geat guy and old Newman classmate. My prayers go out to his whole extended family. I know that pancreatic cancer was not the only long health battle that he fought with good grace.
