My closest friend in Kendallville, Indiana 1950-1960. The day grade school let out we would remove our shoes to "toughen up" our feet for the barefoot summer.

Hi Pam, I am so sorry to hear about John's passing. This is Apollina Baker, my husband and two children and I moved into 707 Blue Hills when you left. I don't know if you remember us but we loved that home so much and we are eternally grateful you and John sold it to us. I came across this package in my storage closet that I had always meant to send to you two but I never had your forwarding address. I was doing some online searching for you too and saw John's obituary. Again I'm so sorry for your loss but I would love to send this package to you. If you email me your address, I'll send it right away. Sincerely, Apollina Baker [email protected]

I am so sorry I lost touch with Dr John and his beautiful wife Pam, but upon finding he is at rest beyond our earthly lives ; I must extend my deepest condolences and sympathy to his entire family and friends. I was his patient for over a year at Oschner as the love story of his & Pam´s began. Together , they saved my future, my leg, my mobility and I believe my life, in many ways ... I received over 10 surgeries which were instrumental in bringing my leg back from the destruction and almost death from a brown recluse spider. His story telling and smile always convinced me to go one more round of his experimental, innovative new techniques in the operating room, which eventually allowed me to walk normally & have a normal appearance again... he & Pam showed me and my new sweetheart & our brood CB of four little ones so much kindness. There are no words to express the gratitude, I feel toward the doctor and his bright assistant , who made me whole. I went on to marry , raise those 4 children , attend Tulane University and Tulane School of Public Health , graduated Sun Cum Lauded. I had a wonderful career in Public Health serving the Mentally ill community. Two of my daughters are nurses... and 11 grandchildren, who are accomplished, as well. But, mainly, one solitary life can mean so very much, to so very many . If I had not had such a dedicated doctor who did not allow a young woman to give up many events in many life would have been quite different. John Finley MD was not just an excellent medical professional but he was the kind of man you were proud to know and a man of true integrity and a person that exemplified the best of humanity and lived the true values of Christianity. I do not know his personal faith beliefs but I believe he surely is in Heaven smiling down upon us all!!!

I enjoyed the times I spent with John and Pam and will never forget the plastic surgery techniques that he taught me. May he rest in peace. Condolences to Pam and the family.
