John Freeman Obituary

John J. Freeman, Jr. passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the age of 66. Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Anita Tusa Freeman, his sons, Lance (Kelli), Rhett (Christina), and his six beautiful grandchildren: Braelynn, Ainsley, Rhett, Jr., Brynn, Brenna, and Carley, whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his sisters, Vicki Smith (Jay), Lisa Cowans (Kevin), his mother-in-law, Celly Bock, and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. Freeman, Sr. and Audrey Loupe Freeman, and his sister, Rosanne Freeman Palmisano. If you knew Johnny, then you knew he was a natural caregiver with a compassionate heart. He could be seen on the weekends cutting many neighbor's lawns. During hurricane season, Johnny made sure all his neighbors had properly working generators. He was an extremely talented craftsman who loved working with his hands. When his sons purchased their homes, he couldn't wait to help them with their DIY projects. Johnny had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke. He will always be loved and forever missed. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 6425 West Metairie Ave, Metairie, Louisiana 70003, followed by a Memorial Mass at 12:00 PM. Interment will be in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery in St. Benedict, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes Masses offered in Johnny's name. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.LeitzEaganFuneralHome.com for the family.

May your memories give you peace and comfort of your loved one. Words fall short of expressing my sorrow for the loss of your loved one. May GOD be with you all during this difficult time. 1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we have faith that Jesus died and rose again, so too God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in death through Jesus.

Ours hearts are heavy since God has call you home. Johnny will never be far from our hearts. I would like to tell everyone the Johnny I knew. Johnny was a very compassionate , loving , always wiling to help someone or something. Johnny had a big heart toward everything he touch including animals. I remember every hurt animal he found he would bring the animal home and tell our Dad they needed to doctor the animal back to health and so they did . Johnny was the type of person if you really got to know him he definitely left a mark on you. Johnny always loved making jokes or playing pranks on people. This is the loving good hearted brother I remember . Now your in peace with Mom and Dad. You will be greatly missed big brother but we will all meet again. LOVE YOU JOHNNY !!!!!!!

So sorry for all Johnny's family. I am Joann, Aunt Alma Woods youngest daughter. Remember all the times I've slept over by their house with Rosanna hung around with her and Roxanna were my best friends. Many times we all went with Aunt Leslie to the farm and picked black berries and sugar cane. Johnny didn't come to much with the girls. He was ways playing jokes around us to. Like catching frogs, lizard, etc.and scarring us girls with them. Maybe that's why but we all had fun back then and wish we all can go back. I will be there tomorrow.
