John J. Freeman Jr.

John J. Freeman, Jr. passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the age of 66. Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Anita Tusa Freeman, his sons, Lance (Kelli), Rhett (Christina), and his six beautiful grandchildren: Braelynn, Ainsley, Rhett, Jr., Brynn, Brenna, and Carley, whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his sisters, Vicki Smith (Jay), Lisa Cowans (Kevin), his mother-in-law, Celly Bock, and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. Freeman, Sr. and Audrey Loupe Freeman, and his sister, Rosanne Freeman Palmisano. If you knew Johnny, then you knew he was a natural caregiver with a compassionate heart. He could be seen on the weekends cutting many neighbor's lawns. During hurricane season, Johnny made sure all his neighbors had properly working generators. He was an extremely talented craftsman who loved working with his hands. When his sons purchased their homes, he couldn't wait to help them with their DIY projects. Johnny had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke. He will always be loved and forever missed. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 6425 West Metairie Ave, Metairie, Louisiana 70003, followed by a Memorial Mass at 12:00 PM. Interment will be in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery in St. Benedict, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes Masses offered in Johnny's name.
