I met John at LSU in 1976. He was my next door neighbor at Power Hall. I was a Holy Cross graduate and he was a Jesuit graduate which made us natural competitors. We did every kind of sports competitions from wrestling, football on the parade grounds to boxing in the dorm. John was a wonderful and thoughtful human being. I always enjoyed our time together. Even though our paths separated after LSU , he was always like a brother. I will miss him.

I have had the great honor of working as a physician with an incredibly wonderful nurse -- Becky Quintal, John's sister. It is indeed a wonderful family that can produce people of this caliber. As the father of two recent Jesuit Grads (2011 and 2016), may St. Ignatius himself be there to welcome you and show you around your new home.

I was deeply saddened to learn of John's passing. He was a dear friend and a former co-worker. Over the years, our office group kept in touch, and we were able to visit with John this past Christmas, when he came to Baton Rouge. He looked well (as handsome as ever, with his charming smile). He spoke frankly about his illness, the battles he had fought and those that lay ahead. My thoughts and prayers are with John, May he Rest in Peace, and his family, May you all find strength to deal with your loss, and comfort in the memories of the love you shared.

My deepest sympathy to his family. A very dear friend and co-worker. We had so many good times together. He kept in touch when he moved to Florida and I'm so grateful for that I treasured his friendship. We visited in Baton Rouge on his last visit home. I loved him and will miss him dearly. My prayers are with his family .

I have many fond memories of my "cool" cousin Johnny. I especially remember riding the bus with you to take piano lessons at Werlein's (no one played "The American Patrol" quite like you!) many fun times at Kingdom Come in Covington (remember the incident with the runaway motorbike and the septic tank?) , discussing the family genealogy and the Roaring Twenties party at Ma Maw's. At Jesuit, I was always proud to call you my cousin. May you rest in peace, my friend ... till we meet again.
