John MacArthur Savoy

John MacArthur Savoy departed this life peacefully at his home in Avondale LA., on Friday, January 27, 2023, at the age of 80. He was a native of St. Martinville, LA. and a longtime resident of Avondale. Mr. Savoy was a retired diesel mechanic with the United Postal Service (UPS). He was also a dedicated member and eucharist minister at Our Lady of The Angels Catholic Church in Waggaman, LA. for 45 years, and a member of the Knights Of Columbus for over 50 years. Son of the late Clement and Stella Price Savoy. Devoted husband of 59 years to Barbara Cormier Savoy. Father of the late Arnold Joseph Savoy. Father-in-law of Terese Savoy. Brother of the late Clifford Savoy, late Anna Mae Jones and the late Olena Broussard. Brother-in-law of Whitney (late Margaret) Washington, Calvin (Rena) Washington, David (Shelia) Washington, Ricky (Linda) Washington, Richard (Betsy) Washington, Dianna (late John) St. Jullian, Carolyn Washington, Lenore Barrnett and the late Irene Mouton, Melvina Savoy, Dalton Jones and Warren Broussard. Mr. Savoy is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Our Lady Of The Angels Catholic Church located at 6851 River Road, Waggaman, LA. 70072. The visitation will begin at 8:30A.M. followed by a 10A.M. Mass. Father John Perino will celebrate the mass and entombment will follow in the church's cemetery. Face masks are still encouraged.
