John Shields Obituary

John "Benny" Shields passed away on August 8, 2023 at the age of 44 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones. John was born on May 24, 1979 to Lionel & Gail Dupree in New Orleans. He was a graduate of John McDonald HS in 1998 & attended Grambling State Univ. John was preceded in death by his mother Gail Dupree. He is survived by his Father, Lionel Dupree; children, John Shields Jr., Daunique Shields, De'Jean Demery, Justin Demery, Jalyk Shields, Jamar Shields, & Kendrah Shields; grandchildren, Karter Bryson Mackey, Ny'Omi Ajayla Skye Decatur & De'Jean Demery Jr; brothers, Leslie Larry Shields (Natacha) & Maurice Shields; uncle, Lawrence Dupree Sr; aunt, Cynthia Bell; beloved cousins, Demetres Carter-Williams (Dennis), Monchielle Bolds Ducre (Raymond), Wyashika Conner (Branden), Precious Bell, & Aujaquinda Nicholson; bestfriends, Jarvis Royal, Kendrick Bovia, Renell Aaron & Cori Tate; & a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Macedonia Church-God In Christ located at 3015 Louisa St, New Orleans, LA at 1pm.

Now John,
This happened too sudden, and God needed you more. My prayers are with your entire family and friends. From high school to adult life always a friend but most importantly my friend Jean-Marie's sons father.
