We were truly blessed Papaw to have someone like you.. to have had you in our lives, to love and cherish too.. Your warm hugs, kisses, and grins, in your flannel shirt.. until that day, little did we know, much more, would they be worth.. That old red truck waits for you in the driveway.. our hearts break knowing you won’t be driving it today.. In it things we talked about.. some old and some new.. I’ll never be able to drive those roads.. not thinking of you.. You taught how to hunt and fish.. and.. SHHH.. DON’T tell Mamaw.. about the butterfingers, strawberry, and orange candies you have, in your candy dish.. You taught how to fix just about anything.. but you never said how much hurt, not having you, would bring.. Oh so many things left to learn and share.. life is too short and certainly not fair.. THEN.. I saw a bunch of butterflies, on that day.. that’s when I knew, you were here, and it would be ok.. We feel you in our memories and each and every thought.. and know that your not gone, as long as you are in our hearts❤.. You are our MENTOR and HERO and you’ve never gone away.. You are our rock, Papaw, and you will always be here with each of us.. each and every day..
YOUR THE BEST PAPAW, WE MISS AND LOVE YOU ALWAYS❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE

Our deepest sympathy for your loss. My memory of JD was in my city slicker rookie younger years, hunting with him an Coota. I shot a hog and they made me carry it for initiation. I carried it for what seemed like forever. Little did I know they had me carry in parallel just a few feet off the road. :)
